Having a hard time getting your work done? This may help!
Earlier in the week I couldn’t believe that I had an entire Saturday with nothing on the schedule! Side note, something I am always working on personally, is to not keep filling my calendar with all things. So of course the first thing I thought about was seeing if I could fit in a friend date, which yes is always nice BUT in that moment I stopped and caught myself. I found myself in the awareness of doing what I have always done, old patterns, again trying to fill my schedule. Especially this past week has been quite full with appointments on my scheduled business/office work day, so I have been moving through the week with a little bit more of “how am I going to catch up?” (Funny thing is though, I am never really behind, I just knew that I really wanted to get at planning the next 5 months of my business out.)
I do not normally promote “working” on the weekends but when I looked at this new found Saturday as a huge chunk of available time as a Gift to create my next 5 months, I got really excited! And if you have been reading any of my blogs or follow me else where or just know me personally, I am a “feeler”. I promote going and doing those things that make you light up! As I am typing this, I am smiling! Ha!
So here is what I did, I committed my Saturday to going to the local coffee shop, making a booth my make-shift office for the day. Some may say, “but how am I going to get work done out in public?”
I knew I needed to get out my apartment to work or I wouldn’t have stayed focused. I would have played with my cat Neil Diamond or scrolled Facebook 5 million times or who knows what else. I even found myself just this morning while I was thinking about when I was going to leave to come to the coffee shop, I was lolly gagging !
Soooooo, if you know that you are easily distracted and you might find yourself getting lost in other projects at home or the office, get out and find a place that feels good and creative!
This could be the shift in perspective you have been waiting for to get the shit done!
What does this set up look like for me currently in my coffee shop booth? First of all I put on a baseball hat so I wouldn’t be so recognizable (I live in a small town where everyone knows your name). I have my laptop, ipad out and my head phones plugged into my phone playing some good tunes. I also have my huge Office Depot calendar sprawled out along with a notebook and colorful pens. And of course the cup of coffee and water to keep me hydrated!
I am trucking along at a good pace I have to say and I would not have gotten this all done if I wouldn’t have left my apartment.
So try this on and let me know how it works for you !
