Start Living for the Audience of God

This past weekend, I spent some time in North Carolina—a mix of business and personal—and whenever I’m near Charlotte, one of my favorite things to do is attend church at a place that feels like home. I made sure to create space for that before flying out.

During service, the pastor said something that struck me deeply:
“Start living for the audience of God.”

It felt like the most loving 2x4 to the soul—a gentle but undeniable truth that stopped me in my tracks.

I paused and asked myself:
Who have I been living for?

That question opened up two reflections:

First, I thought about how often the women I work with share that they feel like they’re constantly performing for others.
Living for the audience of them.
Trying to meet expectations, gain approval, earn validation—believing their worth is based on someone else’s opinion.
Whether it’s how they mother, lead, love, or show up in their lives—they’ve unknowingly handed the measuring stick to someone else.

But the truth is, the only standard that matters is God’s.
Not theirs. Not even our own.

Which leads to my second reflection:
Living for the audience of me.

Let me be real with you—I can be really good at this.
I’m a Leo, and sometimes I like things to revolve around me.
It's easy to fall into self-focus, letting life orbit around our own wants and needs. But the deeper truth is this: our lives were never meant to glorify ourselves.
We were created to glorify Him.

That’s why I love church and intentionally tending to my relationship with God. It brings me back to center. Back to truth. Back to purpose.
I’m reminded that I’m here not to serve myself, but to serve Him—and to do it well.

Now hear me on this part:
Yes, take care of yourself. Nourish your body, mind, and spirit.
Yes, make yourself a priority.
But do it with intention. Do it to honor the life He gave you and the way you’ve been uniquely created to serve.

So I’ll leave you with this:
What’s stirring in you as you read this?
I’d truly love to hear your thoughts.

Because the most beautiful part?
We get to return to God again and again. No guilt. No shame.
Just love—grace-filled, steady, and waiting.

And in that returning, we get to re-align—not with the world’s standards or even our own expectations—but with the One who sees us completely and loves us fully.

Living for the audience of God is a daily invitation to live with intention, with humility, with courage.
To seek His heart before applause.
To root our worth in His truth, not the world’s noise.
To let our lives reflect His goodness and grace.

What a gift it is—to live loved, and to live for Him.
