Thru Recovery we Discover
What if what ever it is that you are recovering from is really the discovery or re-discovery of your true essence?
To me it feels as if a sort of re-birth. A shedding of what no longer is, to become that which was always there.
No matter if you are in recovery of people pleasing, substance addiction, over eating, a broken heart, a workaholic, etc.
It's all about coming back home.
A discovery session or journey of sorts.
A discovery of uncovering, dusting off the light, the shine, the richness, the greatness that was/is always there.
A pearl comes to mind. First it arrives in a clam in all of that goo and such. And even before that it takes some work doesn't it even to break open that clam.
Much like us, it takes time to feel safe again, to re-educate ourselves again on what healthy safety looks like for ourselves.
But once the clam gets opened and the pearl gets cleaned off. You can't help but be in awe of it's beauty that has been brought to light.
Trauma, which is where our addictions : people pleasing, substance abuse, over eating, a workaholic, unhealthy relationships that lead to broken hearts etc. it all stems from trauma.
Yep we all got some trauma. Mine might not look like yours but it's mine.
But healing is possible, with compassion.
Layers can be peeled back little by little and slowly, gently the light gets in to the pain.
And this. This is where healing happens.
By letting the light in, leaning into compassion over and over again.
Allowing yourself to see there can be another way.
The way of your truest essence. One that brings joy, not more pain.
Healing is possible for you, for me, for those we love.
But no matter what and where you are at with it all, have compassion right in your heart to lean into.
I see you. I hear you.
all my love & support,
Theresa
