Making ‘Self Care’ a Priority especially Now

Something I have noticed moving back into working back in the office again with a more regular schedule from being shut-down from COVID....I am exhausted.

I have been in communication with many friends and colleagues who have been experiencing this new sense of “tired” as well and maybe you have to.

With this new awareness I am needing to be even more mindful of my time and making sure I am taking the best care of my mind and body. During COVID shut down, I adjusted my scheduled Self Care time to keep feeding and nurturing myself during the uncertain times. It definitely looked a little different than my regular schedule. And now I am finding that I need to shift my schedule yet again.

Our needs shift as we shift, it’s normal and it’s OK.

So starting this past Sunday, I meal prepped. I cut up a bunch of fruit and veggies and made sure it was accessible for me to grab and go. It’s all about making my days easier. Then I roasted some veggies at the same time. It felt so good to take the time to do this.

Then starting this Monday morning I did an online yoga class. I love to be outside walk and bike during the summer and yes my regular yoga classes are outside but my body has been craving more online yoga classes to help me release any stress and to rejuvenate. Also walking will be incorporated more regularly into my every day at least once a day for an hour.

And for fun and to push myself a little, I am going to be starting a ladies group bike ride once a week. I desire to get more regular on my fat bike and it feels nice to be supported by ladies so I threw it out on Facebook to see if there was interest. And low and behold there was! It’s not easy for me to get up early but if I know others are waiting for me, you know, the accountability thing, then I will be there.

On a very personal note, I have also started reading yet another book called “The one year love language minute devotional” by Gary Chapman. I am already a lover of Gary’s work but I wanted to work on my relationship with God while not taking up a tremendous amount of time. I read a passage every morning to start my day and it ironically usually correlates with what’s happening in my life, ha! PS: I found the book at a thrift store, WIN!

I also have an audiobook that I am always listening to something usually around Empowerment that I can listen to while driving or walking (I do like to multi-task).

I believe NOW more than ever to be one of the best times to start making YOU time (self care) a priority. Schedule it like you schedule everything else in your life. I have said this one before and will continue to share it.

Change the schedule up as many times as you need to, with whatever serves you best for the season of your life.  The biggest rule: Make sure it feels good.

Get excited about this time! This all help support you in being the best version of yourself not just for YOU but all the beautiful people in your life!

Only you know what you need.

So check in, really check in and see what you hear. How does your mind and body need to be supported?
